Not So Subtleties

 

You were the best thing

I had happened upon 

In quite some time

It was easy

To want you

Too easy

To miss you

And far too difficult 

To be subtle 

How can I 

When your smile 

Catches me off guard 

And causes me 

To stumble over my words

That I am usually the master of

When your eyes

Cause me to get lost

In the twinkle and shine

Of your excitement and curiosity 

It’s hard to be quiet 

About a touch like yours

Sending me reeling

At the sensations

Of sparks up my spine 

And feathers in my stomach

So please forgive me

If I am too obvious

I want your all 

And everything 

But I don’t ask for anything 

At least I am subtle about that
