Fifth Sense
I’ve started craving
Other tastes on my lips
Now that yours aren’t an option anymore
I haven’t known the bitterness of a cigarette
For three years now
But I feel myself longing for it
The way that whiskey
Washes over my tongue
Drowning its sadness
From the eviction notice
Of the home it made of you
My midnight fast food runs
Aren’t the same these days
The over abundance of salt on my french fries
Doesn’t fool or satisfy my taste buds anymore
Thinking of you
Sends tingles down my arching spine
A heat through my aching belly
And gasps through my lonely mouth
You tasted best
When my flavor
Penetrated our kiss
A sweetness cutting through your smoke
A smoke that cigarettes could never mimic
And alcohol could never let me forget
